O-9.8: The Objectives of Jihad
The caliph
(o-25) makes
war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians (N: provided
he has first invited them to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if
they will not, then invited them to enter the social order of Islam by
paying the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya, def: o-11.4) -which is the
significance of their paying it, not the money itself-while remaining
in their ancestral religions) (O: and the war continues) until they
become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax (O: in
accordance
with the word of Allah Most High,“Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who
forbid not what Allah and His messenger have forbidden-who do not
practice the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the
Book-until they pay the poll tax out of hand and are humbled” (Koran
9.29),the time and place for which is before the final descent of Jesus (upon
whom be peace). After his final coming, nothing but Islam will be
accepted from them, for taking the poll tax is only effective until
Jesus’ descent (upon him and our Prophet be peace), which is the
divinely revealed law of Muhammad. The coming of Jesus does not entail
a separate divinely revealed law, for he will rule by the law of
Muhammad. As for the Prophet’s saying (Allah bless him and give him
peace),“I am the last, there will be no prophet after me,”
this does not contradict the final coming of Jesus (upon whom be
peace), since he will not rule according to the Evangel, but as a
follower of our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) ).The caliph fights all other
peoples until they become Muslim (O: because they are
not a people with a Book, nor honored as such, and are not permitted to
settle with paying the poll tax (jizya) ) (n: though according to the
Hanafi school, peoples of all other religions, even idol worshippers,
are permitted to live under the protection of the Islamic state if they
either become Muslim or agree to pay the poll tax, the sole exceptions
to which are apostates from Islam and idol worshippers who are Arabs,
neither of whom has any choice but becoming Muslim (al-Hidaya sharh
Bidaya al-mubtadi’ (y-21), 6.48-49) ).
Why? Because that is what Allah commanded and Muhammad exemplified.

Actually, these posts receive very few comments. Most visitors are in, around and out without tripping the clock. Attention spans attenuated by the idiot box, I presume.
Trafic is low, and I decided to see what would happen if I posted at Real Clear Politics.
We are not alone, Roger. Yesterday, a post at the 910Group Forum infomed me of a Skandanavian Anti-Islam forum where numerous ahadith had been posted, some from more obscure collections I had never seen in English.

Who is the real terrorist?
The Human Rights Foundation condemns the unjustified war assault upon the poor, innocent and defenceless people in Afghanistan. This is an unjust war being waged by the strongest country in the world against the poorest country in the world. The US has contemptously rejected many appeals to prove their case against Osma Bin Laden in an independant international court. Surely the US has nothing to fear if its case is as watertight as it would lead us to believe? Or are the public concerns expressed by US officials about the “holes” in their evidence the main reason for the US to refuse this request. Is George Bush junior any different from his father who said “I will never apologise for the United States of America. I don’t care what the facts are” (George Bush (snr) ( “The Rogue State”, William Blum)
The entire basis for the war is unproven allegations which rightly should have been submitted to an impartial independent court such as the International Court of Justice ( ICJ). It is interesting that the US and Israel are the two countries which have been most reluctant to give their support to the establishment of the International Criminal Court which could also have had jurisdiction.
The U.S. attack is not war but a reckless, emotional act of revenge under the banner of fighting for freedom and human rights. “US Policy, under the banners of freedom and human rights, has led to barbarous criminal acts” Institute for Policy Studies, Washington.
It must be remembered that the attack on the Twin Towers was not perpetrated by the government of Afghanistan. The attack was by alleged individuals. War is a state of hostilities between two countries. Instead of attacking the perpetrators for an alleged “war” on the U.S. ( which the Twin Towers attack was not ) the U.S. has declared war on the government and people of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is so hopelessly outmatched by the superior military capability of the US that it is effectively a mass murder and a slaughter of the innocents. George Bush has said that he wants Osma Bin Laden “Dead or Alive”as in the days of the Wild West.
The U.S. attack on Afghanistan is not even a terrorist attack – it is worse. “Terrorist attacks” by ‘freedom fighters’ are attacks by the weak designed to draw attention to a just cause and are usually resorted to by people who have exhausted all other means to draw attention to injustices and oppression. Our own history shows that the US and the apartheid regime in South Africa called the ANC a ‘terrorist organisation’ while we called them ‘freedom fighters’. The US has a perverted sense of values: It was the strongest ally of the former apartheid regime in SA and responsible for the arrest and imprisonment Nelson Mandela for 27 years as a result of the provision of intelligence by the CIA to the former apartheid government. The US voted against many resolutions at the United Nations which sought to impose sanctions against apartheid South Africa. This is the same US which claims to act in the interests of worldwide “freedom and democracy”
We must not lose sight of the important distinction between a “freedom fighter” and a “terrorist” or we will fall into the US propaganda trap of demonizing all people (as well as their “moral supporters” and the countries in which they live in and the religion they happen to follow) who have no other option but to use “terrorist activity” as a political weapon. The US has made it clear that it will not distinguish between the “terrorist” and the country that “harbours” a terrorist. What does this mean? It means that any country in which there are known “terrorists” (by the US definition of terrorist which conveniently excludes itself and its allies ) is a potential target for “anti-terrorist activity” The US conducts its own covert operations ( “US terrorist activity” ? ) by allocating a budget of $30 Billion for this purpose. We need to differentiate between “harbouring” a terrorist and the need to request proof of the guilt of a person before action is taken.
History will record the mass murder and terror in Afghanistan by the U.S. ( which CNN prefers to refer to as the “War on Terror” ) as a shameful event in the history of mankind. The due process of law has not been followed and the US has assigned to itself the role of judge, jury and executioner against an entire country. Once a court has found and convicted the true perpetrators of the attacks than the appropriate punishment should be meted out to the real perpetrators. Prior to this any act of aggression and death caused is illegal and is nothing less than the murder of innocent people.
The US is using sophisticated computer controlled gunships in an international posse of countries involved in a wild-west style manhunt to “smoke out” their prey, such passion unbecoming of a world leader purporting to believe in civilised values. What the US is doing in Afghanistan is a systematic campaign of terror on a far more concerted basis than what it accuses the terrorists of the September 11 attack. The difference is that they do not care if the accused is guilty; nor do they care how many innocent civilians they kill in achievieng their military, economic and strategic objectives in the region. An indication of the continuing callous attitude of the U.S. is the reponse of Colin Powel in respect of question posed to him on the number of Iraqi’s killed in the Gulf War when he said, “Its really not a number I’m terribly interested in” William Blum in “Rogue State” believes that if a list had to be compiled of Amercian leaders guilty of crimes against humanity, Colin Powel may be one of them. The deaths of civilians in this unjust war is referred to as ‘collateral damage” by the US.
According to UN reports the effect of the war has caused a humanitarian crisis potentially affecting between 4-7 million civilians who face not only starvation but the effects of exposure to icy cold weather without any form of heating and medical supplies. The US, in order to mute world condemnation and in an attempt to win over the suffering people resorts to the insulting use of scattering haphazardly food for 37 000 people when those starving are in excess of 4 million. Before the war, aid agencies at least ensured that all those who needed food received it. However the actions of the U.S. has disrupted supply of aid and misinformed the public of the true humanitarian impact of the war reflecting the dishonesty of the U.S. in claiming concern for the Afghanistan people.
The Mute Complicity of the Media
The atrocities committed by certain nations often receive only passing attention. The media attention to the Twin Towers attack was of course necessary. However what is to be condemned and exposed is the lack of any attention by the mainstream media to atrocities of a similar or far greater magnitute in the the past 10 – 20 years, significant of which is the horrendous bombing of Iraq which led to the death of over 1.5 million people over the next 10 years and to this day the strangulating economic sanctions imposed by the US and UN on Iraq are the cause of the painful and excruciating deaths of 5000 children every month. Do you know what the impact is on a mother to watch a child die a long excruciating painful death due to starvation?
Every month 5000 children die in this cruel, inhuman way and the world does not even take notice.
Are they any less worthy of our attention than the 5000 people who died on September the 11th?
Do you know the psychological impact of being in Afghanistan at present when every moment of the day is like playing a game of Russian Roulette? When you have no idea when the next bomb will ‘accidentally’ miss its target and destroy your home? When you have nowhere to run because the borders are sealed? Besides an entire city in Afghanistan has no electricity and water as a result of the destruction of its infrastructure. This alone will cause countless deaths over the coming weeks. The refugee crisis is mounting and there are several hundred thousand refugees who have nowhere to go since all borders have been sealed.

Air bombardment is state terrorism, the terrorism of the rich. It has burned up and blasted apart more innocents in the past six decades than have all the antistate terrorists who ever lived.
Something has benumbed our consciousness against this reality. In the United States we would not consider for the presidency a man who had once thrown a bomb into a crowded restaurant , but we are happy to elect a man who once dropped bombs from airplanes that destroyed not only restaurants but the buildings that surrounded them. I went to Iraq after the Gulf War and saw for myself what the bombs did ; “wanton destruction” is just the term for it.”

First of all, “Islam” doesn’t say or do anything – Muslims do. Ditto for Christianity.
Who in history made it a policy, indeed, a religious requirement to force people to believe as they believed or die horrible deaths by burning at the stake, torture, drowning, disembowelment and so on? Not Muslims, Christians.
In fact, the Qur’an explicitly forbids forced conversion, and it has been understood as such for centuries. Where is that in the Bible?
Prior to 1900, did Muslims living under Christian rule enjoy anything like the freedoms and protections of life and property that Christians did under Islamic rule in the Middle Ages? No, not by a long shot.
Do the Christian (or Jewish) scriptures provide in any way for these protections? No, on the contrary. Does the Qur’an? Yes, in fact it does.
Furthermore, if “Islam” is such a violent religion, tell me, who has been responsible for the most death, mayhem, oppression, suffering and injustice in history, Muslims or Christians? There is simply no comparison: all the deaths in wars by Islamic states don’t come close to the deaths in WWII alone – a war essentially precipitated by and led on both sides by Christians…and we haven’t even begun to talk about the colonial period.
Who depopulated North America so that they could own it all themselves? Not Muslims, Christians. Who enslaved millions in Central and South America for profit, and forced them to convert, to boot? Same answer.
Who went around the world gobbling up everyone else’s resources and labor in the name of God and country? Who now refuses to take responsibility for any of the chaos, injustice and political unrest that has resulted from that? Who supports the colonizer Zionist state at all costs and at the expense of the people who were displaced by it, and who refuses even to acknowledge the daily humiliation that state pours on those displaced people? Not Muslims, Christians.
I could go on, but please note that
a) none of this is meant to justify violence in the name of religion – merely to provide perspective, and
b) nowhere have I said “Christianity” here. The Bible is full of blood, injustice and crimes of all sorts, all justified by religion. Even Christ said, “I come with the sword…”, and as a result his heirs gave us the “Christian soldiers” of European fame.
The point: it’s very easy to pick out sections from text, present them out of context and then make sweeping claims about “Islam” while ignoring what Muslims actually do. Likewise it’s easy to grab legal text books and assume that they necessarily reflect actual practice, rather than an abstract ideal.
Everything must be seen in context, and you have to see these texts as Muslims have understood them at different times and in different circumstances. That’s called being fair and reasonable.
But of course, you’re not interested in THAT, are you?

For the lack of time, I would like to briefly respond to just one of your claims that Christians “enslaved millions in Central and South America for profit, and forced them to convert, to boot”. In my opinion, you have no clue of what you’re saying.
Yes, they were involved in slavery (not sure what you mean by “boot”, BUT their share never comes close to the enormity of Muslim slave trade. You may want to check “Arab slave trade” on Wikipedia to see how Arabs/Muslims were instrumental in organizing and keeping the slave trade going over the past 14 centuries.

Just a few facts from the said article:
1. In the 1570’s, a Frenchman visiting Egypt found many thousands of blacks on sale in Cairo on market days.
2. In 1665 Father Antonios Gonzalis, a Spanish/Belgian traveller, reported 800 – 1000 slaves on sale in the Cairo market on a single day.
3. In 1796, a British traveller reported a caravan of 5000 slaves departing from Darfur. In 1838, it was estimated that 10000 to 12000 slaves were arriving in Cairo each year.
4. Atrocities in handling slaves:
– At least 80% of those captured by Muslim slave traders were calculated to have died before reaching the slave markets. It is believed that the death toll from the 14 centuries of Muslim slave raids into Africa could have been over 112 million.
– The castration of males slaves was common place. Women ended as sex slaves. There were tens of thousands of military slaves, some conscripted at the age of 10.
5. Muslim slave raiders chased Europeans as well: the estimate is that up to 1,25 million Europeans were abducted from European shores, even Britain and Ireland.
Get your facts right, man.
You hypocritically blame others that they “ignore the facts what Muslims actually do” . It is YOU who ignore them.

I do not agree with any of what you are saying . Infact I would simply like to say on behalf of us Muslims that Allah Swt. Has blessed us with being a Muslim for the non believers they may go to which ever path they choose just don’t intefere in ours. We don’t comment on your religion do learn to respect. We as Muslims know what we are to believe and do so how about you guys concentrate more on your lives than sitting and literally trying everything in your power to bad mouth Muslims. May God guide you all to the right path as right now it is obvious of your kismat that lies ahead. You poor people. If only you knew better…..

Meryem, the Almighty Creator guided me on the path of Jesus Christ, whom he sent as an extension of himself for the salvation of mankind.
If Islam would live and let live as Christianity does, there would be no problem. The problem arises from Surat al-Anfal & at-taubah, which command Muslims to wage perpetual war against disbelievers. Those imperatives are confirmed by Sahih Bukhari 1.8.387 and codified into Islamic law in Umdat as-Salik Book O9.8-9.
We can respect neither a demon who demands “great slaughter” nor a pirate who murdered his critics and raped the widows of his victims. Neither can we tolerate Islamic intolerance and violence.

Islam is the religion of peace and The word “Islam” itself means “Submission to Allah.” The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of “Christianity” which was named after Jesus Christ, “Buddhism” after Gutama Buddha , “Marxism” after Karl Marx, and “Confucianism” after Confucius.
Similarly, Islam is not named after a tribe like “Judaism” after the tribe of Judah and “Hinduism” after the Hindus. The Arabic word “Islam” means the submission or surrender of one’s will to the will of the only true god worthy of worship, “Allah” (known as God “the Father” in Christianity).

Tina Magaard is a linguist who got her Ph.D. in Intercultural Communication from the Sorbonne. She did a three-year study of the original texts of the ten largest religions, and one of her conclusions was that, of all those religions, Islam’s core texts are most aggressive against other religions. So it’s not a matter of cherry-picking violent words from Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira of Muhammad. It’s a matter of an overall pattern.
Another difference: Islam is the only major religion whose core texts contain an open-ended command, valid for all time, to use force, fraud and every other means to bring the whole globe under Islamic law. Some have tried to downplay Islam’s core texts’ violence, by pointing, for example, to the violence in the Old Testament. But the Old Testament’s violence is different from Islamic violence in this respect: the violence in the Old Testament is descriptive, whereas that in Islamic texts is prescriptive. In other words, in the Old Testament, we here that “God” ordered a certain village to be wiped out, and another village, and so on, and it’s quite disturbing, but it’s a description of something that happened once, and nowhere is there a command to do this to everyone until the end of time. But in the Islamic texts, Muslims are told to work until the end of time to bring the whole world under Islamic law, and to use war, when possible, to make that happen.
Also, a commenter above claimed that it’s wrong to focus narrowly on texts and pay too little attention to what Muslims actually do. Fair enough. So let’s look at what human rights organizations statistics show about the world’s Muslim-majority nations. And we find that statistics on civil liberties and political rights in the bloc of Muslim-majority nations are the worst statistics of any group of nations. Even if we look at the Islamic nations sometimes touted as exemplars of human rights — Indonesia and Turkey, we find them way below first world standards on respect for religious freedom. In Indonesia, a non-orthodox Muslim was threatened a few years back with a jail term of five years because he was preaching non-orthodox form of Islam. He recanted. Christians in Indonesia were also threatened with prosecution and possible five year terms merely for proselystizing. And Indonesia is supposed to be the best Islam has to offer! The part of Indonesia called Aceh has been implementing Islamic law lately, too. And Turkey is worse for than Indonesia for non-Muslims, and what’s more is teetering on a turn toward extreme Islam. Meanwhile, other Islamic nations are true hellholes for freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and other basic human rights. And let’s not forget the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the largest bloc of nations at the U.N. The OIC some years back passed something called the Declaration of Human Rights in Islam (or a similar title). Basically, that Declaration says that, yes, people in Islam can have human rights — so long as they don’t conflict with Islamic law. And they certainly do conflict with Islamic law.
So there we have an idea of what Muslims actually do. And the widespread tendency to authoritarianism certainly does comport with the obvious authoritarianism of Islamic texts and of Muhammad. But some people have their agendas and don’t want to admit these things.
Why do all the schools of Islamic law call for the death penalty for apostasy? In Sahih Bukhari, the most canonical of hadith collections, Muhammad said, “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.” Because of that, and because various other hadiths Muslims consider authoritative also attest that Muhammad called for death to those who leave Islam, today all the schools of Islamic law prescribe death for apostasy.
Islam contains many other totalitarian threads through its core. None of the other main religions is as closed and totalitarian as Islam, not by a long shot.

I was searching the net when I accidently found this page.. so I thought to write something before continue what I was searching for..
I find this page is very enlightening and i really thank dajjal for this great page..
I am new muslim..my grandpa converted to islam from christianity.. he used to tell me how he woke up everyday going back and forth to work..going to church every sunday to hear the very same words.. he felt as something was missing.. untill one day he found someone like u.. telling him all that horrible things about islam.. so he got curious and started reading about it till he finally converted to islam against the will of his family and friends..later they converted too..
sorry to tell you all that unnecessary story.. I just wanted to say that people know little if anything about islam..and because of people like you they get curious and look it up..let everyone read about islam from everywhere..I am not gonna tell them to read this and read that..let them know everything about islam.. the good and the bad there is to find.. and i truely wish for every seeker to find the truth whatever it is..
here I find myself really compelled to write some facts down..
1st, islam is the fastest growing religion now..worldwide.. intersting..
2nd, about islam and slavery..I advise the reader to look up the fact that islam through quran and sunnah asked believers who broke their oaths to free a slave to be forgiven.. and many more bad deeds were forgiven the same way..surprisingly, islam was against slavery which started before islam.. and it was the major factor of getting rid of it nowadays in asia and north africa..
3rd,have any of you read anything about islam and embryology? how quran made an amazing description about the formation of the human fetus inside his mother? if u haven’t,I really recommend that you look that up too.. you will be stunned..
last, I recommend also for dajjal to look his name up in arabic..the language of quran.. he will be stunned too for the result..

What Allah allegedly said, what Moe said and what Moe did form a congruent pattern which is confirmed by tafsir, Fiqh & history.
Most of the Qur’an verses & hadith sayings have no context, the most important stand alone on their own demerit because they are commands and examples to be emulated.
I provided links to the Qur’an & hadith so that readers could verify the quotes and explore their context. When the post was written, I did not have direct links to Shari’ah. Now I do. Reliance of the Traveller, Book o, Chapter 9 deals with Jihad, defining it, the communal obligation to perform it annually and the fact that offensive war of conquest is a regular agenda item for the imam. Reliance o9.0
Maliki Fiqh has a similar, but less expansive definition of jihad, and parallels the Shafi’ite law of obligation to conquer the world. Open Risala to page 284.
